1. Shirley Jackson’s “The Lottery” and Franz Kafka’s “In the Penal Colony” both deal with a gruesome tradition that is seemingly unnecessary and unjustifiable. Compare these two traditions, paying particular attention to the language and imagery used to describe each.
I picked this topic because I really felt like I could explain traditions. "The Lottery" really kept me interested because of the language and imagery. I had no idea what was going to happy and I feel it will be interesting to expand on the idea of tradition.I think it will be easy to compare intresting traditions. "In the Penal Colony" also had a lot of imagery and suspense.
I really don't know what else to say about why I picked it. I really just liked the story "The Lottery" because I feel it was well written and kept the reader intuned.

THIRD person
Justine thinks it's a beautiful day. She thinks that she is so bored and wants to walk the loop. Justine also has so much homework that she does NOT want to do. She needs to go to the gym really bad but she is a little too lazy. She thinks that is just unfortunate. Justine wants to go shopping with the zero money she has.
Justine has a quiz tomorrow in math. Justine Hates math... a lot. She is really terrible at math no matter how hard she tries. Justine also has a test in psychology on Monday, that she REALLY needs to study for. Justine has a lot to do but she procrastinates way to much.
Justine is super happy that spring break is in 2 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!

College VS. High school
College is a lot harder than highschool. It's kinda crazy how much harder. I never had to study in highschool or do homework and I always had good grades. It was like I had to TRYY to fail. Now on the other hand if I don't do my homework or study I'm screwed.
Everyone says they like college SOOO much better. I guess it's beacuse of the freedom. I mean I had a lot of freedom in highschool. I always had a curfew and my parents were pretty strict but either way I had a great time.
Even though I'm just a freshman I would have to say I liked high school more than I like college. I have more freedom. But that just means I have to be good at managing my time. Beacause if I party too much IT WILL SHOW. I can't just lie to my mom and dad they aren't stupid. BUT when I was at homeee I could just pretend I was studying and go out and they would just believe me because my grades were high.
Maybe I just don't like college as much because I'm from here and I go to school here. But it's not like I run into people I know often except when I work. I just miss my friends. Freshmen here try WAYY to hard and try to act like hippies because they think thats what Wilmington is. Its pretty annoyingggg.

February 14th
Valentines day is this Saturday February 14th.
As much as I would love to spend money on things that are pink and red... I think it's a waste of time. Even since I have been little I always thought it was over rated. I never liked buying little card board valentines. It's just kind of a pointless day. I mean I know its suppose to be lovey dovey and all, but I think a boyfriend should treat you well all the time. Its such a commercial holiday now, not lovin it too much. So chances are pretty high that I will go about my day like it is like any other. No need to be really exited for it or really depressed.
BUTT I am excited for Friday the 13th!-- My sorority has our philanthropy event. Our philanthropy is cardiac health. we put on a huge male pageant and all the proceeds go to the American Heart Association. Last year we raised over $4,000 hopefully this year the turnout will be the same or even better! After we have a huge party and all the Greeks get in free. This event has been very time consuming to many of my sisters, so I'm excited that it will soon be over and the stress will be lifted off of them.
I have so much homeworkkkkk this weeeekenddd, not excited because it is suppose to be so nice out and I do not want to spend my weekend in the library.

Workin On That Fitness
You know it's close to summer when...
- Commercials on tv only talk about getting the most amazing bod.
-the salad bar becomes the new place to dine
-the gym is crowded
-girls aren't eating
-AND all the sudden people look orange from self tanner and the tanning bed.
Regardless I cannot wait until spring break/ SUMMER!
--> I'm super excited to see all my friends and have the opportunity to show them how Wilmington is since we're out of high school ( I'm from here)

I wonder if you are going to try to read this
So This week is going to be really busy. I have to stay focused on school or else I'll probably get really bad grades and be kicking myself in the ass later on. So I have decided I am going to try to completely eliminate any technological distractions. About 5 minutes ago I deactivated my face book account.Not going to lie, it's pretty much killing me. Its really distracting though and I have to be sure to really stay focused this week. Also tomorrow I am turning off my phone until I'm ready to go to sleep. This way I wont text during any classes and I wont have to listen to a million peoples problems. I wonder how long I'm going to stick to this. Hopefully all week I want to see how much work I get done without many distractions. ALSO my sorority has a lot of things going on this weekend. So pretty much my week is full of thing to get done. Don't know how excited I am...

Dorms
Dorms are so damn gross. Seriously I am one of the cleanest people ever. I clean my dorm room all the time, and it still manages to be so disgusting. For example, just a few minutes ago I was going on with my nightly routine. Just as I was about to hope in my extra long twin size dorm bed, I look above my window and there is a HUGE spider. No exaggertaion, The body of the spider was bigger than a nickle and shy of a quarter. So now Im probably not about to go to bed because i'll be to busy freaking out about the spider that I THINK/ HOPE I killed.

Vacation
This weekend was pretty fun. I went to Raleigh on Friday with my mom! We went to go shop and visit my sister. I also got the chance to see some friends at State. My sisters hair was darker than mine (almost black) and she died her hair blonde. It actually looks really good, I would never have the guts to do it though.
When I went to State I was very excited that I didn't make the mistake of going there. I had so much fun with my best friend, Caison, but besides that it was boring. State is dirty and boring. It's just one big brick. Also which is extremely sketchy, ALE sits at the front desk in all the dorms. I saw three people get drinking tickets in about a 1/2 an hour.
Raleigh is also really hard to drive around. I feel like I had to get on I40 in order to get anywhere. It's way too confusing for me. I missed the beach in the 3 days I wasn't home. It's so good to be back!

Robert Frost
I particularly like all of Robert Frost poems. I think they are fairly easy to understand. My favorite of Frosts' poems is "A Road Not Taken". The Poem really made me understand how he felt. It's to my belief that he felt regret. He makes it seem like he should have gone on the other road. The last lines of this poem support my theory,
"I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, And I -
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference."
My second favorite of Frosts' poems is "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening". This poem seemed depressing to me, but I felt it was easy to comprehend. In my opinion I think he is talking about suicide in this poem. It's like he wants to end his life but he has " miles to go before he sleeps." Which to me interprets he knows he has much longer to live but is dreading it.
